Chelmsford Cathedral now has its own official App which gives you the latest visitor information, opening times, worship times, history of the Cathedral and information on all the Cathedral’s historical points of interest together with a detailed interactive floor plan of the Cathedral.


Chelmsford Cathedral is one of the youngest cathedrals in England, and stands at the heart of the newest city in England. Originally a parish church, the first recorded service dates back to 1223, and the earliest stonework discovered here is from Norman times.
